Sheidel ($3 favourite) made it fourteen wins from twenty-four starts when the ‘Magic Man’ Joao Moreira brought the Lindsay Park trained mare down the outside fence in the 1100m straight race.

Moreira has no hesitation in taking Sheidel straight to the outside after she began brilliantly and after setting the pace in a split field, was able to respond in the run to the line to record a short head win over Wild Rain ($9) and Private Secretary ($21) with all three placings coming down the grandstand side.

Craig Williams on the Andrew Noblet trained Super Cash ($13) elected to stay on the inside section of the track and the Written Tycoon mare battled on okay to fill fourth spot.

The winning performance of Sheidel has prompted co-trainer David Hayes to step the mare up to Group 1 company and is keen to line her up in the weight for age Group 1 $1m Darley Classic over 1200m down the Flemington straight next week.

“We are thrilled with her,” said David Hayes who trains in partnership with his son Ben and nephew Tom Dabernig.

“She wins more than she loses and a jockey that wins more than he loses, so they are good combination.”

“She is just a little fighter and a couple of those loses with me she has been genuine unlucky.”

“I think she is a Group 1 filly and will probably get a chance at the end of the week to see if see is.”

“We will see how she pulls up.”
