Scorpio Queen showed she is on track for the Queensland Oaks after a hard fought win in the Listed $125,000 H Harvey Prestige Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m) at the Gold Coast today.

Evergreen jockey Jim Cassidy made it an early Gold Coast treble when he stuck to the fence in the straight and held off the late challenge of Secret Garden out in the middle of the track.

Roughie Anagold ran a cheeky race and held on for third for Jim Byrne.

Cassidy is riding in outstanding form and had no second thoughts of pushing the Chris Waller trained filly up along the fence on the heavy track after having a sweet run throughout the race.

Scorpio Queen was coming off one run during the Sydney Autumn Carnival when sixth to Landing in the Listed South Pacific Classic (1400m) at Randwick on April 21 and really appreciated the step up to the 1800m.

“Her run over the Carnival first up was good and she found the line nice,” Cassidy said.

Waller will now push onto the Group 1 $400,000 Treasury Casino Queensland Oaks (2400m) at Eagle Farm on June 2 and by the way she knuckled down to the task today, the 2400m of the Oaks looks to be right up her alley.

Kiwi filly Miss Artistic ran home okay to finish fourth for Chris Munce from a long way back and will be better suited when she gets to the bigger tracks and over more ground as she also heads towards the Oaks.

Well supported favourite Pretty Pins was never in the race and after settling well back for Michael Cahill, failed to figure at any stage of the race.

Cassidy’s winners earlier in the day were Boys On Tour in the 1400m Green Guide Class 6 Handicap and Hour Of Peril in the 1200m Surfers Paradise RSL Benchmark 90, both for Patinack Farm trainer John Thompson.
