Sagaronne was having her first run back from a spell on June 11 in an 1100m Class 5 Handicap at the Gold Coast when she was slow to leave the barriers and then bucked for the first 200m and effectively took no part in the race.

Racing Queensland stewards subsequently ordered the Toby Edmonds trained filly to barrier trial before being allowed back at the races.

As there has not been any recent official barrier trials because of the wet weather, stewards allowed Sagaronne to be passed at an unofficial trial at the Gold Coast on Thursday morning and released the following statement.

“Sagaronne completed an unofficial trial to the satisfaction of Stewards yesterday morning and will therefore be allowed to take its place in Race 10 at Eagle Farm on Saturday 25 June 2016 in the Landfill Logistics Daybreak Lover three-year-old Listed race over 1400m.”

Edmonds has opted to put the blinkers back on the Sagaronne who will jump from barrier four with Jeff Lloyd in the saddle.

Sagaronne showed plenty of ability during her two year old season, including a win in the Listed $100,000 Bracken Ridge Tavern The Phoenix (1350m) at Doomben followed by a second to Press Statement in the 2015 Group 1 $600,000 BMW Australia J.J. Atkins (1600m) at Doomben, but she has struggled to regain her juvenile form.

In the latest betting at Ladbrokes.com.au for the Daybreak Lover, Sagaronne is marked at $16 while the Chris Waller trained Tsaritsa heads the market order as the short priced $2.05 favourite.

On the second line of betting at $4.20 is the Toowoomba filly Sold For Song ahead of the Matthew Dunn trainer Perfect Dare at $6.50 and Tony Gollan’s Salmanazar at $8.50.
