Sacred Eye is out to 2015 Crown Oaks odds of $4.20, but co-trainer Tom Dabernig remains confident that the talented filly is ready to run well in the Group 1 event at Flemington this afternoon.

Sacred Eye made her racing debut with a dominant three and a half lengths win in the Emsley Lodge Maiden Plate (1300m) at Geelong on September 1 before she was beaten by Don’t Doubt Mamma in the MRC Foundation Plate (1400m) at Caulfield on September 19.

The High Chaparral filly finished second again behind Badawiya in the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on October 4 before she stamped herself as a genuine Crown Oaks contender with a win in the Group 3 Ladbrokes Caulfield Classic (2000m) at Caulfield on October 17.

Dabernig told Racing Ahead that he has been thrilled with the way that Sacred Eye has progressed during the 2015 Spring Racing Carnival and he said his only concern ahead of the Crown Oaks is the wet state of the Flemington track.

“We couldn’t be happier with her,” Dabernig said.

“She has been set for this race.

“There has been silly rain in Melbourne and by the time the Oaks comes around, I’m not sure how the track will be racing and that is my only concern.

“She has only ever been on a good surface, but outside of that we couldn’t have her any better heading into the race.”

Sacred Eye will be stepping up to 2500 metres for the first time in the 2015 Crown Oaks, but Dabernig is confident that the rise in trip will not be an issue for the three-year-old.

Dabernig confirmed that the Crown Oaks had always been the major 2015 Spring Racing Carnival target for Sacred Eye and he said she has always given the impression that he would get out over a trip.

“She has all the attributes of a staying filly,” Dabernig said.

“She can relax, switch-off and she has a strong turn-of-foot.

“She can find the line, but you never know until you try them.

“She gives every indication that the distance won’t bother her.”

Sacred Eye is currently available at 2015 Crown Oaks odds of $4.20 with Ladbrokes and she is on the third line of betting behind Jameka ($3.90) and Ambience ($4).
