Rich Enuff is set to contest the 2015 Bobbie Lewis Quality at Flemington on Saturday and trainer Ken Keys believes that his star galloper has tightened up significantly ahead of the Group 2 event.

Rich Enuff made his long awaited return to racing in the Group 3 Theshark.com.au Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on August 29 and he took up the running in the early stages of the race, but he looked to tire late and was no match for Bounding in the final 150 metres.

Keys believes that there was plenty of merit in Theshark.com.au Stakes performance of Rich Enuff, but he told Racing Ahead that he expects the Written Tycoon entire to produce an improved performance in the Bobbie Lewis Quality.

“I thought he was pretty credible the other day,” Keys said.

“Bounding is an exceptionally good horse and if he can take good improvement into that he should run a nice race.

“That was probably the shortest course that he has done well over, so he was probably at his top for a lot longer than people realise.

“I think that he was running on empty the last 150, he gave a nice little kick on the corner and it looked like Miss Promiscuity was going to go past him, but he kicked and held off them strongly.

“The winner was far too strong on the day, but he didn’t stop and he was just on empty in the last 1000.

“He has certainly tightened up from that and he will need to have.”

Rich Enuff has prior experience racing down the Flemington straight after he took out the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) on September 13 last year before he failed to fire in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day.

Keys does not believe that Rich Enuff has any issues with the Flemington straight and he feels that the entire had simply come to the end of his preparation in the Coolmore Stud Stakes.

“I think that is no worries,” Keys said.

“He handled it and the day down the straight he was on the wrong side and that was more to do with his prep having ended, so I can’t really use that as an excuse.

“I think that he will run well on Saturday.”

The 2015 Bobbie Lewis Quality field will be released tomorrow and it could include the likes of Lucky Hussler, Sterling City, Bounding, Under The Louvre, Gregers, Setinum and Jabali.
