Ready For Victory has been included in the 2015 Danehill Stakes nominations and the talented colt is set to remain in Melbourne for the Group 2 event that will be held at Flemington on Saturday.
Ready For Victory returned to racing with a luckless second place finish behind Gold Symphony in the Group 3 McNeil Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on August 29 and he was set to make the trip to Sydney for the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m), but trainer Mick Price revealed last weekend that the More Than Ready colt would stay in Melbourne as he continues to build towards the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) on October 11.
The three-year-old is set to return to Flemington for the first time since he made his racing debut with a fast-finishing win in the Listed Festival Of Racing 1000 (1000m) on March 7 before he finished fourth in the Golden Slipper in just his second race star.
The McNeil Stakes is set to be the key form reference for the Danehill Stakes and Team Corstens-trained Mr Individual is one of a number of gallopers coming out of that race that has been included in the Danehill Stakes nominations.
Mr Individual made his racing debut with a narrow victory at Bendigo on June 11 and he was extremely well-backed in the lead-up to the McNeil Stakes, but he hung out severely rounding the home turn and he was never able to let down in the final stages of the race.
The Starspangledbanner colt would not look out of place in the Danehill Stakes, but connections are set to send the three-year-old to Geelong on Friday in order to give the lightly-raced horse an easy kill.
One horse that is sure to take his place in the 2015 Danehill Stakes field is Tommy Hughes-trained Black Vanquish, who has recorded two wins from three starts since he made his racing debut in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) at Caulfield on February 14.
Black Vanquish failed to fire in the Blue Diamond Prelude, but he led from start to finish in the Starlight Children’s Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on April 11 before he proved that win was no fluke with a classy victory in the Listed Thoroughbred Club Cup (1200m) at Caulfield on May 2.
Godolphin-owned Bantam, last start winner Brockhoff, Team Hawkes-trained Headwater, Sires Produce Stakes placegetter Odyssey Moon, debut winner Puritan, Gai Waterhouse-trained Raphael’s Cat, Blue Diamond Stakes runner-up Reemah and McKenzie Stakes winner Well Sprung have also been included in the 2015 Danehill Stakes nominations.
