Raw Impulse has been installed the odds on favourite and another win will keep his Australian record intact after winning all three starts for the Daren Weir stable since arriving from England.

The big striding four year old has been virtually untouched with wins in a 1500m BenchMark 78 Handicap at Moonee Valley, an 1800m BenchMark 78 Handicap and a 2000m BenchMark 90 Handicap at Caulfield.

“He hasn’t beaten much but I will say he has done it the right way,’’ Weir told The Daily Telegraph.

“I’ve had Raw Impulse in work for quite a while to get him acclimatised to Australian racing and he is shaping up well.”

“He is a nice horse.’’

Another win by Raw Impulse will see him head to Brisbane for the Group 2 $300,000 Evergreen Turf Brisbane Cup (2400m) at Eagle Farm on June 11 and then be prepared for the Spring Carnival.

“He won’t be going to the paddock after Brisbane, we will freshen him up and then look at a spring campaign,’’ Weir said.

“This horse is a big, strong bull and they need the work, that is what they want.

“But I also think you can do it with any horse.’’

Sydney jockey Sam Clipperton will be the fourth jockey in as many starts to ride Raw Impulse after Hugh Bowman, Brad Rawiller and Dean Yendall all steered the promising stayer to victory.

Clipperton is excited about picking up the mount on Raw Impluse and will be doing his best to keep his winning momentum going and put himself into contention for future rides.

“They have obviously got big aspirations for this horse and he’s jumped every hurdle they’ve thrown at him so far,” Clipperton told racing .com.

“He’s obviously got to get through Saturday but it would be nice to think I could stick with him if Saturday goes well but I’ve just got to focus on the job at hand on Saturday.

“This is a great opportunity I’ve been provided with by Darren Weir and the Australian Bloodstock team. He’s a class stayer on the rise and a very exciting ride for me.

“I am very privileged to get these opportunities and just got to make sure I go out and do my best on every one and give my horses every possible chance of winning the race.”
