Rageese is currently available at 2015 The Rosebud odds of $2.80 and co-trainer Michael Hawkes is confident that the talented colt can make a winning start to what could be a lengthy 2015 Spring Racing Carnival campaign.

Rageese can now lay claim to the title of the best maiden in Australia following the win of Lake Geneva at Hawkesbury yesterday and Hawkes told Racing Ahead that he is happy with the condition of Street Cry colt after he trialed in excellent fashion at Rosehill Gardens on July 21.

“He trialed super,” Hawkes said.

“He sat on the speed and just came off the fence to really hit the line solid.

“Obviously he has great form and he was probably unlucky not to win first-up last preparation and he headed into a Sires to take on a seasoned colt like Pride Of Dubai was.

“He looks magnificent, but he is still a maiden and he still has to carry the weight.

“It is a small field and a tricky race, but he is up to it and hopefully we can get the job done on Saturday.”

Rageese was included in the nominations for all the major races during the 2015 Spring Racing Carnival that were released earlier this weekend and Hawkes indicated that the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on September 12, the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 10 and even the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 24 could be on the cards for the three-year-old, but he said the stable were simply looking for him to break his maiden in the 2015 edition of The Rosebud this weekend.

“It will be on the cards,” Hawkes said.

“It is a race that he will be competitive in if we are able to get him there.

“We have always thought that he would be a good miler and last time 1400 was right up his alley, but he was just so tired after that run and he was immature.

“If you look at him now, he is bigger, stronger and his mental attitude is in the right frame.

“A mile is not beyond him and maybe even further.

“He is a lovely colt, but we want to get through one step first.”

Rageese remains a clear favourite in The Rosebud betting market with Ladbrokes from Sebring Sun ($4.00), Vanbrugh ($6.50), Let’s Make It Rain ($7), Voilier ($8.50) and Tatoosh ($8.50).
