Petits Filous has been backed into 2015 Quezette Stakes odds of $1.80 and the support for the talented filly shows no signs of stopping heading into the Group 3 event at Caulfield tomorrow.
Petits Filous made her racing debut with a dominant six lengths victory in the Telstra Phoneworlds Handicap (1000m) at Moonee Valley on July 15 and she proved that win was no fluke when she stalked the speed before finishing over the top of her rivals in the United Refrigeration Handicap (1000m) at the same venue on August 1.
The Street Boss filly faces the toughest test of her career to date in the 2015 Quezette Stakes, but punters have backed her like she in unbeatable and trainer Ciaron Maher is confident that she can get the job done.
“I am very happy with her,” Maher told Racing Ahead.
“She had a bit of a stride around on Tuesday morning on the course proper and she seems in good spirit and has trained on nice.
“It looks like she should be able to get a similar run to last time and obviously Damien knows her quite well.
“It is a bit of a step-up again, but she certainly deserves it.”
Petits Filous has been included in the nominations for both the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) and Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) during the 2015 Spring Racing Carnival, but Maher is taking it one step at a time with the three-year-old and he yet to commit on a lengthy spring preparation.
Maher said that Petits Filous seems to be handling her racing well in her first campaign and he revealed that he is likely to formulate a plan for the filly if she wins the Quezette Stakes as expected tomorrow.
“We don’t have to do a lot with her because she has had a couple of runs now and she is only racing over the short trips,” Maher said.
“She has a good constitution, she eats well and she handles her work, so she is a horse that on the back of this run if we mapped out a bit of a plan that could go a little deeper.”
Petits Filous is currently available at 2015 Quezette Stakes odds of $1.80 with Ladbrokes and she is a clear favourite from Colin Little-trained Jalan Jalan ($6.50), the undefeated Miss Gunpowder ($7) and Gai Waterhouse-trained Giulietta ($9.50).
