Boom filly Peron is set to make her Group 1 debut in Saturday’s Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm after being named in a 16-horse field for the $500,000 race.

Fears arose yesterday that the three-year-old would miss out on a spot in the field as she sat at 23rd in the order of entry of the 29 horses nominated.

But with many trainers choosing not to accept for the final Group 1 of the 2012-13 racing season, the John Thompson-trained filly will attempt to claim a fourth straight win this winter.

Peron is backing up after a dominant two-length win in the Gai Waterhouse Classic at Ipswich on Saturday and will be ridden by Michael Cahill from barrier 13.

A classy field of fillies and mares will step out at Eagle Farm this Saturday, with Sydney trainers Guy Walter and Chris Waller both bringing strong contenders to Queensland.

Walter’s dual-pronged assault is headed by Stradbroke third placegetter Streama who is joined by seven-year-old mare Skyerush.

Skyerush hasn’t raced since April but will chase a third straight win after showing career-best form at the Sydney autumn carnival to win the Group 3 Doncaster Prelude and the Group 2 Emancipation Stakes.

Sydney’s leading trainer Waller will also have two runners in the race, accepting with both Red Tracer and She’s Clean.

Red Tracer, a regular starter in Group 1 races, is coming off a win in the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes while She’s Clean will have her first start in the top grade after winning her last three assignments.

Brisbane trainer Kelso Wood missed out in the Stradbroke despite having three runners but he gets one last chance to claim a winter Group 1 with recent stable addition Spirit Song.

Other notable Tatt’s Tiara runners include multiple Group 1 winner Yosei, John O’Shea-trained mare Steps In Time and 2012 Golden Slipper fourth Doubtfilly.
