But it is unlikely there will be too many more excited for the triple Group 1 winner’s return than Joshua Parr.

The talented Sydney jockey has been booked to partner the Peter Moody-trained gelding for what will be his first race since September when his spring campaign was cut short due to injury.

Parr took to twitter earlier this week to express his excitement about riding one of last autumn’s biggest stars.

“I will partner one of the greats in Saturday’s Chipping Norton Stakes, Manighar. What a privilege it will be,” Parr said.

“I’m really happy to be on him. I had the pleasure of galloping him yesterday [Saturday].”

The former French galloper has been ridden by Moody’s number one jockey Luke Nolen in most of his Australian starts but he will be on duty at Flemington for Newmarket Handicap day.

Manighar hasn’t been since September in a spring campaign that was restricted to a runner-up finish in the Makybe Diva Stakes and a sixth in the Underwood Stakes.

The son of Linamix went from talented import to genuine star last autumn during a stunning campaign where he scored three Group 1 victories.

After taking out the Australian Cup at Flemington, Manighar travelled to Sydney to win both the Ranvet Stakes and the BMW before running second to More Joyous in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

The popular grey is expected to spend his entire autumn racing in Sydney and was yesterday allocated 58kg for the Doncaster Mile behind defending champion More Joyous (59.5kg).
