Talented stayer Pale Mimosa is set to join the Chris Waller stable after she was purchased by the stables bloodstock advisor Guy Mulcaster for 680,000 Guineas (over $1.25 million Australian) Tattersalls December Sale at Newmarket overnight.

Pale Mimosa was introduced to the Australian racing public when she was included in the nominations for the 2014 Melbourne Cup while under the care of leading Irish trainer Dermot Weld and she entered quarantine in England with the likes of Willing Foe, Cavalryman and Gatewood, but Weld elected not to send the mare to Australia for ‘the race that stops a nation’.

The Singspiel mare was one of several high profile horses to go through the sales ring at the Tattersalls December Sale and, while she still fetched a significant amount of money, previous owners Jockey Hall Stud were disappointed to fetch less than 1 million Guineas for the Group 1 winning mare after Just The Judge sold for 4.5 million Guineas earlier in the day.

Pale Mimosa made her racing debut with an unspectacular fourth in the Coolmore RIP Van Winkle Maiden (1700m) at Cork in October of 2011, but stamped herself as a horse to watch with a dominant 15 lengths win at Galway the following August and she took out the Listed Galtres Stakes (2414m) before she made her debut at Group level with a fifth place finish in the Group 2 Prix Chaudenay (3000m) at Longchamp.

The talented mare recorded another black type win in the Listed Saval Beg Stakes (2816m) at Leopardstown in June last year before she made her Group 1 debut with a seventh place finish behind Voleuse De Coeurs in the Group 1 Irish St Leger (2816m) and a credible fourth in the Group 3 Long Distance Cup (3218m) at Ascot.

Pale Mimosa started her 2014 racing season with a third place finish behind Leading Light in the Group 3 Vintage Crop Stakes (2816m) at Navan on May 18 and took out the Listed Challenge Stakes (2816m) before she recorded the biggest win of her racing career to date In the Group 2 Lonsdale Cup (3299m) at York on August 22.

She stepped back up to Group 1 level for the Irish St Leger and finished a slightly disappointing fifth before she finished her European racing career with a third place finish in the Group 1 Prix Du Cadran (4000m) at Longchamp on October 5 and a close fourth in the Group 1 Prix Royal-Oak (3100m) at the same venue on October 26.

Waller has had plenty of success with horses purchased at the Tattersalls Sales in the United Kingdom; with the likes of Foreteller, Kelinni, My Kingdom Of Fife and Our Voodoo Prince purchased at the famous sale.
