Overreach jumped from the barriers well and looked like she had the race in control but appeared to tire in the final stages, with Marseille Roulette catching the classy filly on the line to record victory by a long head in a time of 62.7 seconds.

Marseille Roulette won the Inglis Classic (1200m) at Rosehill on debut in January but failed to fire in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m), finishing at the tail of the field, before finishing seven in the Darby Racing Handicap (1200m) at Warwick Farm in February.

Overreach has not been seen at the races since being beaten by Guelph as an odds-on favourite in the Group 1 Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) at Randwick in April.

The 2013 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival campaign of the Exceed And Excel filly was still an overwhelming success as she scored dominant victories in the Listed Widden Stakes (1100m) and Group 2 Moet & Chandon Stakes (1200m) before recording her maiden Group 1 win in the Golden Slipper (1200m).

Trainer Gai Waterhouse is yet to decide on the major spring target for the three-year-old although she was included in the nominations for the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m).

Waterhouse refused to guarantee last week that Overreach would attempt to become the first horse to win the Golden Slipper/ Golden Rose double although she may resume in the Group 3 The Run To The Rose (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on August 31.

Waterhouse has had past success in The Run To The Rose, winning the race with Squamosa in 2010 and Pierro in 2012.
