Racing Victoria officials will delay any decision on the outcome of investigations into an alleged bet made by star jockey Damien Oliver until after the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Oliver has been the subject of scrutiny since it was revealed last month that he is under investigation for allegedly placing a bet on a rival horse in a race at Moonee Valley in 2010.

Racing Victoria Chief Executive Rob Hines issued a statement that confirmed Oliver will be free to ride in both today’s Crown Oaks meeting as well as on Emirates Stakes Day this Saturday.

“Once the current investigation into allegations against jockey Damien Oliver has concluded, we will provide an explanation of the process and timing of our investigation,” Hines said.

“This information and any further comment from Racing Victoria will not be provided until after the investigation is concluded as we do not wish to prejudice that investigation.

“At this point in time, we expect that the investigation will be concluded in the next week or so.”

Oliver will ride outsider Mama’s Choice ($51) in the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) today and has a full book of rides on Saturday.

His mounts include Happy Trails in the Emirates Stakes, Bel Sprinter in the Patinack Farm Classic and Dare To Dream in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Oliver’s tough spring continued on Tuesday when he came under fire from Americain trainer Alain de Royer Dupre for his ride on the former Melbourne Cup champion who finished seven lengths behind Green Moon in 11th position.
