The midweek meeting at Warwick Farm this Wednesday is set to have a touch of class with Group 1 winning mare Norzita to have an exhibition gallop between races.

The Team Cummings-trained four-year-old is working towards a return to the races in the Group 3 Show County Handicap (1200m) at Warwick Farm on August 24 and will be making her second public appearance after finishing sixth in a barrier trial behind Rain Affair at Randwick on August 2.

Co-trainer James Cummings is hopeful that the gallop will have the daughter of Thorn Park close to her peak fitness ahead of her first-up assignment.

“We threw in a trial nomination on Friday but we are going to prefer to have an exhibition gallop on the course proper at Warwick Farm instead on Wednesday,” Cummings said on RSN.

“The trial was going to be on the inside grass and we prefer to have the course proper for her and that will give her ten days into her first-up assignment.

“The exhibition gallop should just bring her right on and hopefully we can have her somewhere near her top to be fit enough first-up.”

The Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) is the ultimate 2013 Spring Racing Carnival goal for Norzita but she will have a number of her opportunities to add another Group 1 win to her victories in the 2012 Flight Stakes (1600m) and the 2013 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m).

After resuming in the Show County, Norzita will remain in Sydney for the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on September 21 before travelling to Melbourne for the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) ahead of the Cox Plate at Moonee Valley on October 26.

Bart Cummings has won the Cox Plate on five occasions while his grandson James is chasing his first Group 1 title since the pair became an official partnership on August 1.
