Rommel has had two runs back after recovering from a tendon injury and Parnham said that he wasn’t ready for a tough Group 1 encounter in the weight for age Kingston Town Classic.

Instead Parnham will concentrate on the Magic Millions Carnival on the Gold Coast in Queensland and is eyeing off the $1m Magic Millions Cup (1400m) on January 9.

“There really is not much else for him to go,” Parnham told TABradio..

“I’ve been thinking about taking him to Queensland on January 9.

“There is a Magic Millions 1400 metre open class race that is worth $1 million.

“He is qualified for the race and that is a thought in our mind.

“It’s a shame I didn’t have more time to get him ready for the Railway.

“We had to look after the leg first and it’s good to get him through the run sound.

“But he is not ready to step up to the 1800m of the Kingston Town.”

Parnham is then keen to head back to Melbourne for the Autumn Carnival after having mixed success earlier in the year in Victoria.

Rommel proved too strong for the Eastern three year olds in the Group 3 $150,000 Zedative Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 28 but missed out on a start in the Group 1 $500,000 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington the following week after succumbing to a tendon injury.

“He most likely will be heading to Melbourne after that,” Parnham said.

“He will have a couple of runs there and hopefully he can get through it.”

Rommel proved to be one of the top three year olds during 2014 Perth Summer Carnival when he beat boom three year old Disposition in the Group 2 $400,000 Sky Racing-W.A. Guineas (1600m) at Ascot.

Rommel has had two runs back from his enforced lay off for a ninth to Buffering in the Group 1 $1m Crown Perth-Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot, Perth on November 21 followed by a fourth to Watermans Bay in the Group 3 $250,000 A.J. Scahill Stakes (1400m) at Ascot last Saturday.
