Snow Sky was available at 2015 Caulfield Cup odds of as long as $18 earlier in the week, but there has been consistent money for the Nayef entire since the barrier draw was conducted and he is now into $9.50.

The English galloper started his 2015 racing season with a strong win over Brown Panther in the Group 2 Yorkshire Cup (2816m) at York on May 15 and he stamped himself as a genuine Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup contender with a dominant win in the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes (2414m) at Royal Ascot on June 20.

Snow Sky failed to fire in the Group 1 King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2414m) at Ascot on July 25, but Teddy Grimthorpe – the racing manager for owner Prince Khalid bin Abdullah – is confident that the entire can return to his best form in the Caulfield Cup and will be suited by the conditions of the race.

“He has travelled really well, he has thrived since he got here and he has been in great form,” Grimthorpe told Racing Ahead.

“All the signs are very positive and it encouraged us to have a crack.

“It is a nice option and it is a standout race on its own.

“This is not a question of using the Caulfield Cup as a prep race, this is a main objective for him and if he performs well and comes out of it well we would love to look at Flemington.

“Arguably his best race was in the Hardwicke over 2400 metres at Royal Ascot, it was on the fast side that day and he really enjoyed it.

“Obviously it is a different track and a different soil surface and I would hope that he will handle it fine.

“The Caulfield Cup is one of the great races on the world calendar and we are trying like mad to win.”

Snow Sky was one of the big winners of the Caulfield Cup barrier draw and he is set to receive a lovely from barrier three with Damien Oliver in the saddle.

Grimthorpe said that he is yet to discuss riding tactics with Oliver, but he expects the four-time Caulfield Cup winning hoop will push forward on Snow Sky in the early stages of the race.

“I don’t propose to tell the greatest Australian jockey how to ride Caulfield or how to ride in the Caulfield Cup, but I would think now that he has drawn three that he will want to make use of that,” Grimthorpe said.

Snow Sky has been backed into 2015 Caulfield Cup odds of $9.50 with Ladbrokes and he is now on the equal second line of betting behind dominant favourite Mongolian Khan ($4.80).
