Mouro To Resume In November Handicap

Talented entire Mouro will return to the races at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday after he was included in the acceptances for the 2014 November Handicap.

Mouro has not been seen at the races since he suffered an injury when seventh behind Leebaz in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Gold Cup (1600m) on May 3, but McEvoy plans to give the Grand Slam entire three race starts during his summer campaign.

The five-year-old was allocated 62 kilograms by Racing New South Wales handicappers for the November Handicap and he will carry 60 kilograms with the two kilogram claim of apprentice jockey Lester Grace.

After running in the November Handicap on Saturday, Mouro will return to black type racing in the Listed Festival Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens on November 29 before he steps up to Group 2 level for the Villiers Stakes (1600m) at Royal Randwick on December 13.

Mouro will then be given four weeks of light work before he begins his 2015 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival campaign; with the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Royal Randwick during The Championships set to be the major target for the talented entire.

Mouro made his racing debut in France, but he was sold to clients of the McEvoy stable after he took out the Prix De Baleix at Pau in January of 2012.

He made his Australian racing debut with a win at Morphettville Parks in October of 2012 and recorded another impressive win at the same venue a month later before he was sent to the spelling paddock following a second place finish in the Tony Beddison Cup (1600m) at Moonee Valley.

Mouro scored his maiden win at black type level when he took out the Listed Rowley Mile (1600m) at Hawkesbury in May and he made his Group 1 debut with a 11th place finish in the Toorak Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield in October last year.

The imported galloper returned to winning form in the Sale Cup (1600m) and he recorded his first win at Group level when he took out the Group 3 Eclipse Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield at the end of his 2013 Spring Racing Carnival campaign.

Mouro returned to racing with a narrow win in the Group 3 Rewards Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on March 1 and he failed to fire in both the Group 2 Ajax Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 22 and the Doncaster Mile before he suffered an injury in the Hawkesbury Gold Cup.

The November Handicap has drawn a strong field and Mouro is set to face the likes of Scream Machine, Heart Testa, Keep Cool, You’ll Never, Said Com and Road To Summer in the $85,000 race.
