Lights Of Heaven is in good shape according to Peter Moody

Peter Moody has warned punters to not forget about Lights Of Heaven going into this weekend’s Underwood Stakes despite the fact they may have been burned over her last two starts.

Lights Of Heaven was a big odds on favourite in the Makybe Diva Stakes but she could only muster a fifth placed finish on a day full of upsets.

The race before that she was first up in the Lawrence Stakes, that time finishing second comfortably accounted for by Whobegotyou.

Moody maintains though that the horse is in good shape leading into the Underwood Stakes and says whether people believe him or not doesn’t really concern him.

” I’m happy with the mare, that’s all I’m worried about, I don’t control what other people think or do,” he said.

Lights Of Heaven came up with barrier three in this morning’s gate draw, another plus giving her some flexibility in the run.

“It’s always nice to draw a nice alley, so we have a few options from there,” Moody said.

The mare will also be given blinkers this time in, a move that nearly always produces a noticeable improvement in the Zabeel progeny and something that could help her take further advantage of barrier three.

Moody also says that despite being third into this run there’s still a bit of improvement to come.

“We’ve stepped her workload up accordingly but this’ll bring her on again,” he said.

Moody says he’s more convinced than ever that she’s a Caulfield Cup horse and they’ll be taking a path through the Turnbull Stakes to get there.

She’s not the only Moody horse with interest this weekend either with Hallowelle Belle back for her third start this prep.

She’s run second twice already including last start where she was hugely impressive up against Sepoy in the Danehill Stakes.

“Her last run behind sepoy was super up the straight, everything about her suggests she gets the 1400m,” he said.

She’ll be joined by stablemate Metonymy in the Thousand Guineas Prelude Field at Caulfield.

“She was only two lengths behind the colts the other day in the McNeil Stakes and everything points to her getting the 1400m as well,” Moody said.
