Sneak A Peek will be making his first appearance at the races since finishing eight in the 2012 Caulfield Cup (2400m) after missing the 2013 Autumn Racing Carnival due to an unlucky injury but has been back in work for a while with Moody taking the unusual step of giving the five-year-old a brief winter campaign without actually sending him to the races.

“He has really furnished and come on,” Moody told Racing Ahead.

“We had him back for the autumn but he actually cut his leg and it was of those things where we had to restrict him to get it to heal.

“He had the autumn off and he has prepped up very well.

“We actually gave him a winter preparation and got him up to trial stage at Caulfield about ten weeks ago so that he didn’t just sit in the paddock and do nothing.

“I think that really did help him acclimatize and he has come back ready for this.”

Sneak A Peek received the visitor’s draw for the Warwick Stakes and will begin the race at the very outside of the field in barrier fourteen.

Moody believes that the son of Doyen is forward enough to run a good race first-up but said the poor draw could stop him from being a factor in the finish.

“The draw isn’t going to aide him at all and we don’t really have an option bar go back,” the champion trainer said.

“The horse does have good tactical speed but in his first run for a good while we will ride him negatively from the gate and poke through for luck and look for him to close.”

Sneak A Peek was included in the nominations for the Caulfield Cup (2400m) as well as the Cox Plate (2040m) and is expected to make his first spring appearance in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on September 7 before heading to Melbourne.
