Brisbane trainer Liam Birchley has no hesitation in naming the Group 1 $500,000 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) down the Flemington straight for the three year olds in three weeks as the Sequallo filly’s next start.

“I’m hoping for the Coolmore, we will probably run there, that’s the target at this point,” Birchley said.

Missy Longstocking took her record to eight wins from eleven starts with today’s victory which was one of her easiest with jockey Damian Browne letting her stroll to the line to score by half a length.

Browne gave Missy Longstocking a trouble free ride and after being in the second half of the field in the early stages, let her start to improve from the 800m before angling her out four wide on the home turn to give her a clear run home.

Missy Longstocking started the $4.20 favourite and had no trouble holding out the Robert Smerdon trained Anatina ($6) and $9 chance Bulbula from the David Hayes stable.

Birchley was very impressed with the way Missy Longstocking quickly adapted to the tricky Caulfield track as she continues to improve with every start.

“She just keeps doing her job, she tries very hard and even though everything didn’t go with her today she was still too good,” Birchley said.

“She just got a little bit lost there on the turn, but I think she got the hang of it by the end.”

Missy Longstocking has been a tremendous money spinner for connections with Birchley paying $7,500 for her as a weanling and she has now won over $630,000 in prizemoney.
