Payne created history when she became the first female jockey to win the Group 1 $6m Emirates Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington on November 3 on $101 outsider Prince Of Penzance.

Premiership winning trainer Darren Weir stuck with Payne who was also able to deliver the leading trainer his first Melbourne Cup victory as well.

Payne has had a whirlwind of engagement since her meteoric rise to fame which included a meeting with Prince Charles and the Duchess Of Cornwall and the Australian Turf Club are thrilled to have her coming to Randwick.

“From the morning after the Melbourne Cup we wanted to get in contact with Michelle with a view to her coming to ride in Sydney,” ATC spokesperson Brett de Vine said.

“There were many factors that made it difficult for Michelle to come earlier but we’re thrilled to have her on board.

“Our intention is to share Michelle with the fans as best we can but she’s also committed to ride on the day.”

Payne was also in the money on the last day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival when she teamed up with Weir again on Palentino to win the Listed $150,000 Hilton Hotels & Resorts Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on November 7.

She was then hoping the fairy tale would continue when she went to Ballarat last Saturday but her mount Akzar failed to beat a runner home in the Listed $300,000 Sportsbet.com.au Ballarat Cup (2200m) won by the Chris Waller trained Junoob.
