Trainer Peter Snowden has revealed he wants to see classy filly repeat her impressive first-up win, when she contests the AAP Industries Plate (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens tomorrow, before he includes her in his group of leading two-year-olds that will be set for Group 1 races during the 2014 Autumn Racing Carnival.

Memorial recorded a comfortable two and a half lengths victory over Careless and Stratalena in the Alexandria Plate (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens on November 16 but Snowden elected to keep the daughter of Street Cry in work rather than send her to the spelling paddock.

Memorial’s broodmare Mnemosyne won the 2005 Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) and 2006 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1500m) but has failed to produce a black type winner and Snowden wants to make sure that the two-year-old isn’t a disappointment like her siblings Forget, Eleuther and Erato.

“I kept her in for that reason because there have been a few disappointments in the family,” Snowden told Racing Ahead.

“She has always showed me the most ability out of them all and she has trained on really well.

“I want to see her do it again in a similar type of race and I have been very happy with the attitude to her work and the way that she works.

“From that good draw she should be make her own luck again and be hard to beat.”

Darley has dominated the early season two-year-old races in Sydney, with Earthquake and Occitan already stamping themselves as Blue Diamond Stakes and Golden Slipper contenders, but Snowden wants to wait until he sees how Memorial runs tomorrow before including her in that group.

“I will know more tomorrow,” Snowden said.

“Trackwork and trials are one thing but raceday can be something else.

“For mine I think that it is hugely important for them to have a couple of starts before you start categorizing where they fit.

“She does work well, she seems very tradesman like, and there is a lot to like about her first win but she needs to do the same again tomorrow.”

Snowden had a great deal of success in two-year-old races during the 2013 Autumn Racing Carnival; winning the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m), Group 1 Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) with Guelph, as well as winning Group level races with Kuroshio, Metastasio, Sidestep, Champollion and Montsegur.
