Trainer Nigel Blackiston has revealed that the Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) will be the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival target for Let’s Make Adeal after she performed well in a jump out at Flemington this morning.

Let’s Make Adeal contested the opening jump out over 800 metres at Flemington this morning and jumped from the gates well before being settled in the middle of the six horse field in the early stages of the trial.

The Red Ransom mare was kept under a heavy hold throughout the trial, but worked into the race strongly come around the final trial and ran home well to finish second behind Prince Of Power.

Blackiston told TVN that he was thrilled by the jump out performance of Let’s Make Adeal and he confirmed that he is hoping to qualify the promising mare for the 2014 edition of the Melbourne Cup after she narrowly missed on a place in last year’s race.

“Let’s Make Adeal just went along at her own tempo and finished second under a good hold,” Blackiston said.

“Obviously I’d like to be able to take Let’s Make Adeal to the Melbourne Cup, that is her aim.”

Let’s Make Adeal stamped herself as a stayer to watch with a narrow second in the 2013 South Australian Fillies Classic (2500m) and after winning a midweek event over a mile at Sandown, she was set for a tough spring campaign.

She made her Group 1 debut with an impressive fourth place finish in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on September 7 and finished second in the Listed Penang Trophy (1800m) at Morphettville on September 21 before having no luck when fourth in the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) at Caulfield on October 12.

Let’s Make Adeal needed to win the Group 3 Lexus Stakes (2500m) to get into the Melbourne Cup and she was narrowly denied victory by Ruscello, but went on to finish third in the Group 3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2600m) at Flemington on November 9.

The four-year-old made a slow start to her autumn campaign, missing the placings in both the Group 2 Peter Young Stakes (1800m) and Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m), but returned to good form in the Group 3 Sky High Stakes (1900m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 22 and was far from disgraced in both the Group 1 The BMW (2400m) at Rosehill Gardens on April 5 and the Group 1 Sydney Cup (3200m) at Royal Randwick on April 19.

Let’s Make Adeal is currently available at the lengthy odds of $101 in the 2014 Melbourne Cup betting market with Ladbrokes Australia.
