Master Of Design (blue, black and white silks) will target the Winterbottom Stakes in Perth

Trainer David Payne is planning to bring well-bred five-year-old Master Of Design back to Perth to target the $500,000 Winterbottom Stakes in November.

The $2.1 million yearling won his last start at Rosehill Gardens, proving to his trainer that he is ready to step up a grade.

“I’m definitely prepared to take him back to Perth myself,” Payne said.

“The Winterbottom Stakes would be ideal for him.”

The trainer believes the Redoute’s Choice entire will have gained much needed fitness from his last run.

“He wasn’t fully wound up for his first-up race and can make lengths of improvement,” Payne said.

“I’ll start him again in two weeks.”

Jockey Kerrin McEvoy rode Master Of Design to his latest victory.

“He got further back than planned,” McEvoy said.

“Then the horse showed he’s going places.

“He’s a big galloper with a giant stride and strong acceleration.”

One of Master Of Design’s owners, Michael Pedley, said that the Western Australian syndicate that owns a share in the horse are pleased to know the horse will be back running on their home track.

“WA owners have a 40 per cent share in the horse,” Mr Pedley said.

“We bought him to be a sire in the long term. Perth syndicate members want him back here for the Winterbottom.”

Master Of Design has won five of his ten race starts and has accrued prize money equalling almost $170,000.
