Man From Uncle can prove his last start win in the Eskimo Prince Stakes was no fluke with another winning performance in the Group 2 $400,000 Schweppes Hobartville Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

The Anthony Cummings trained Man From Uncle was sent out at double figure odds when he proved too strong to win the Group 3 $150,000 Australian Chinese Jockey Club Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on February 4 after racing wide all of the way.

“He was three-wide all the way which stamped the win as one of some quality,’’ Cummings told The Daily Telegraph.

“I’m hoping he doesn’t have to do the same again as it would be tougher over 1400m.

“But he is there to run a good race so we will see how it unfolds.’’

Another strong showing will see Cummings aim the Uncle Mo three year old towards the Group 1 $1m Girvan Waugh Randwick Guineas (1600m) at Randwick on March 4 and the Group 1 $600,000 Sky Racing Rosehill Guineas (2000m) at Rosehill on March 18.

“I’ve got no doubt that with his galloping style and the way he works, he will appreciate at least 1600m,’’ Cummings said.

“The Hobartville trip is perfect as he is not ‘screwed’ right down yet. That is a way off obviously and we are letting the races do the work for him going into the two Guineas (Royal Randwick Guineas, Rosehill Guineas.’’

Bryneich was a well beaten seventh as favourite behind Man From Uncle in the Eskimo Prince Stakes and trainer John O’Shea has added blinkers to the Lonhro colt for the Hobartville Stakes hoping to improve his performance.

The Chris Waller trained Comin’ Through is also lining up in the Hobartville Stakes after finishing fifth in the Eskimo Prince Stakes.

Eskimo Prince Stakes winning jockey Jason Collett will stick with Man From Uncle and is hoping he can get a better run from barrier seven in the Hobartville Stakes.

Comin’ Through with Michael Walker to ride from barrier four has been installed the $4 favourite for the Hobartville Stakes at Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Victoria Derby winner Prized Icon at $4.80 while Man From Uncle is on the third line of betting at $6.
