Champion Melbourne jockey Damien Oliver will team up with the Andreas Wohler trained Magic Artist who heads the market order at $3.80 ahead of local three year old star Perfect Reflection at $4.20.

Magic Artist has had two runs on Australian soil for two fourths at Flemington in the Group 1 $1m Longines Mackinnon Stakes (2000m) on October 31 with Brenton Avdulla in the saddle and in the Group 1 $1m Emirates Stakes (1600m) the following Saturday for Blake Shinn.

With those two runs under his belt, Oliver is looking forward to tackling the 1800m weight for age feature in Perth on the high class German galloper.

“It looks a really nice race for him,” Oliver told Racing.com’s Racing Ahead on RSN.

“He ran a couple of huge races in the spring in the Mackinnon and the Emirates.

“The 1800m trip for him after a month off looks fantastic for him in Perth.

“They say he likes firm ground too, so he’s got a lot going for him going over there.”

The Grant Williams trained Perfect Reflection has drawn awkwardly at barrier twelve in the sixteen horse field but top local jockey William Pike will know what tactics to employ after having ridden the filly in all four of her wins.

Last season’s leading three year old filly Delicacy has drawn the outside gate and Peter Hall will have no choice but to go back in the field from the start and hope for luck to slot in in the run to the first turn.

Local mare Real Love ($8) has drawn midfield at seven for Chris Parnham while the Vaughn Sigley trained Black Heart Bart has drawn nicely at three with Glenn Smith in the saddle.

Number one saddlecloth holder Extra Zero was given the visitor’s drawn and came up with barrier fifteen with Mark Zahra making the trip to Perth to ride the David Hayes and Tom Dabernig trained warhorse.

Extra Zero, marked at $19, is also a backmarker and will need the pace on up front to get his chance to pick up the leaders.
