Trainer Matthew Dunn has revealed that he will be instructing jockey Tim Bell to ride Madotti off the speed in the 2015 Magic Millions Classic at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Madotti did not have a great deal of luck at the 2015 Magic Millions Classic barrier draw that was held yesterday and she was allocated barrier 15 for the $2 million event, but Dunn hopes that the racing pattern of the Falvelon filly as well as the way that the Gold Coast track has played in recent weeks will help offset the wide draw.

“15 is not ideal, but I think we come into 11 or something after the emergencies come out if that what happens,” Dunn told Racing Ahead.

“I am not that worried because I want to ride her off the speed anyhow and some of those horses that have drawn wide will go forward, which should set good tempo.

“Magic Millions’ are normally won by horses that are in the first three or four, but that track at the Gold Coast has raced a little bit different over the last four or five weeks and horses are flashing down the outside and winning more so than on speed.

“It is not ideal, but she should get a nice run and she has certainly got above average ability.”

Madotti made her racing debut with a second place finish behind Group 1 Building Plate (900m) at the Gold Coast on October 4 and recorded her maiden race win when she took out the Junction’s Go The Cat Handicap (1050m) at Doomben on October 18.

The two-year-old could finish no better than sixth in the Brisbane Marriott Hotel Handicap (1110m) at Doomben on December 20, but Dunn believes that she should have finished a lot closer to the winner and feels that she is good value at her current 2015 Magic Millions Classic odds of $31.

“We sort of purchased this filly to aim at this race from day one with her,” Dunn said.

“She is a genuine early two-year-old.

“She is 40 to one and she certainly doesn’t deserve to be that.

“She should have finished a lot closer last time and if she had done that she probably would be half that price.”

Dunn will have three runners at the Gold Coast on Saturday after including Duchess Molly in the Magic Millions Maiden Plate entries and Repartee in the Magic Millions Fillies & Mares Handicap (1300m).
