Lady Selkirk has been a standout performer for Warrnambool-based Williams throughout her entire racing career so far, but has undoubtedly kicked up a gear this time in; peaking with a classy win in the Western Otway Handicap (1600m) at Flemington last time out on June 25th.

Williams is thrilled with the condition of the Von Costa De Hero filly and believes she will be perfectly suited to the conditions of the 2016 Silver Bowl Series Final on Saturday.

“She’s terrific,” Williams told Racing Ahead.

“She had a little gallop on the course proper here at Warrnambool here on Tuesday. Young Tyler who does most of my gallops and has done most of her gallops felt that she’d come on again, so I’m hoping he’s on the money.

“I think over a mile in a smaller field I think she’ll be on the leader’s back. I don’t think she’d get much further back than that.

“Even though two starts ago she sort of got back at Flemington, she never really got back in any of her races so we’ll go with the attitude of being positive on her and putting her there so she’s only a pair off them.

“She’s very adaptable on the ground – she can handle a Warrnambool heavy turn or a dead 4.

“I’m more confident this time than last time. Now I’ve seen her at a mile I think that and maybe a little further will be her pet distance.

“We’ll go down with the tail up anyway.”

Resuming in April for third in a Donald maiden race over 1200m, Lady Selkirk broke through for her first race win in the DA Dalgleish Maiden Plate (1300m) before placing second to Lord Tennyson in the Inglis Bonus BM70 (1400m) on May 4th.

Returning to winning form in the Crownbet BM64 (1400m) on May 22nd, Lady Selkirk placed a luckless seventh in the Trevor Clarke BM78 (1400m) on June 11th, in what was her only other start prior to her last start triumph.

Ladbrokes Australia currently rate Lady Selkirk a $4.80 chance in 2016 Silver Bowl Series Final betting markets.
