Ladbrokes will sponsor the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) and the Group 3 Caulfield Classic (2000m) on Caulfield Cup Day before they become the official corporate bookmaker of the Melbourne Racing Club from January 1 next year.

As part of the new agreement, Sandown Racecourse will be known as Ladbrokes Park and Ladbrokes will become the official naming rights sponsors for races like the Group 1 Orr Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m).

Melbourne Racing Club Brodie Arnhold paid credit to former corporate bookmaker partner William Hill, but he said that he was extremely excited to partner with Australia’s most innovative bookmaker Ladbrokes.

“As a club we’re always looking for ways to progress and offer a wide range of innovative products to our customers, therefore partnering with Ladbrokes is the perfect fit for us,” Arnhold said.

Ladbrokes have previously been involved in the sponsorship of the Brisbane Roar, St Kilda Football Club, Greater Western Sydney Giants Football Club and a number of greyhound tracks around Australia, but this is easily their biggest partnership to date and Chief Marketing Officer James Burnett said that the fast-growing company is delighted to be involved with the Melbourne Racing Club.

“It’s a great honour for Ladbrokes to partner up with the Melbourne Racing Club from 2016 and further extend its commitment to being a part of Australian racing at such an iconic club,” Burnett said.

“To begin this partnership on one of the great race days, BECK Caulfield Guineas Day, is a genuine thrill for us and to see such a quality field assembled for the first Ladbrokes Caulfield Stakes is really the cherry on top.

“As we look to next week, the bonuses on offer for three year olds in the Caulfield Classic is great for the racing industry as a whole and to be involved is truly exciting.”

Ladbrokes already have their 2015 Ladbrokes Caulfield Stakes betting market open and George Main Stakes winner Kermadec ($3) is a clear favourite from veteran gelding Fawkner ($5), Godolphin-owned Contributer ($5), Gai Waterhouse-trained Pornichet ($6), triple Group 1 winner Criterion ($8.50), Australian Derby winner Mongolian Khan ($8.50), the popular Happy Trails ($12) and Team Hawkes-trained Entirely Platinum ($34).
