Kiwi filly Melody Belle among BRC Sires’ Produce nominations

Group 1 winning Kiwi filly Melody Belle is among the nominations for the Group 2 $250,000 Mitavite BRC Sires’ Produce (1400m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Matamata co-trainers Stephen Autridge and Jamie Richards have settled Melody Belle into her new surrounding in Brisbane with a second in a 1050m Deagon barrier on May 9 following her win in the Group 1 NZ$225,000 Manawatu Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) at Awapuni in New Zealand on April 1.

Smart colt Tangled heads trainer Chris Waller’s Sires’ Produce nominations that also includes Madam Moustache and Sambro.

Tangled looked very impressive when he won his second race from only four starts when Kerrin McEvoy brought the Snitzel colt from well back in the field to win the Group 2 $175,000 Moet Champagne Classic (1200m) at Doomben on May 13.

Eagle Farm trainer Chris Munce also has three youngsters nominated for the Sires’ Produce and will give the locals a great sight with Saint Patricks Day, Ours To Keep and Champ Elect.

All three juveniles have shown above average ability with Saint Patricks Day grabbing the limelight with a last start win in the Listed $100,000 Dalrello Stakes (1200m) on the shifty at Eagle Farm track on April 29.

Ours To Keep was the winner of his first three starts and went into the $2m Jeep Magic Millions 2yo Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast on January 14 as one of the favourites after winning the Group 3 $200,000 Lilivale Stud B.J. McLachlan Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm on December 31.

The Seidnazar colt had come to the end of his preparation and wound up finishing ninth to Houtzen in the Magic Millions 2yo Classic before being send for a spell and then resumed for a fourth to Saint Patricks Day in the Dalrello Stakes before running fourth to Tangled in the Champagne Classic.

Munce’s third Sires’ Produce entry Champ Elect has had one run back and will have to improve on her first up ninth to Taking Aim in the Group 3 $125,000 Ken Russell Memorial Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast on May 6.

The Team Snowden trained Taking Aim is also nominated for the Sires’ Produce along with stablemate Icon Of Dubai who is yet to win from three race starts.

Leading Victorian trainer Darren Weir has only one two-year-old nominated for the Sires Produce, Snitzel colt Snitzepeg who was only beaten one length last start when fifth to Time Awaits in the Group 3 $175,000 SA Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) on the Morphettville Parks Track on May 13.
