Kristy Banks remains in a serious condition in hospital following her horror fall at Toowoomba on Saturday night.
Banks remains under close watch at the Princess Alexandra where she’s been since New Year’s Eve after sustaining severe spinal damage.
She had surgery on her spine as soon as she arrived at the facility with the T12 vertebrae suffering the biggest blow.
Chief steward Wade Birch visited Banks in hospital yesterday where her husband Dale remains at her side.
While her condition has stabilised it will still be an anxious wait to see whether or not the surgery was a success.
“Kristy is showing the same determination that has made her a successful race rider in Queensland during this difficult time,” Birch said.
“With the continued support of her family and friends together with the wider racing community, we are hopeful that Kristy can make a full recovery.”
Unfortunately as yet there is no update on the severity of the injury itself and whether or not it will be treatable.
Banks was paralysed from the waist down on arrival at the hospital and until swelling subsides there is no way to tell when or if Banks will walk again, let alone ever return to riding.
