Khan received the greatest market share of bets for success in the hours leading up to jump this afternoon, and the colt did his chances of success no harm whatsoever when he jumped well and took a position within the field of twelve.

Settling into a good rhythm in transit as Condor Hero and Piracy injected plenty of tempo into the race up front, jockey Blake Shinn bided him time on Khan until he was offered clear running in the final straight.

Producing a huge turn of foot to run down Condor Hero and open the gap to two lengths on the line, Khan emulated the efforts of stable mate and last year’s winner Capitalist, who subsequently returned in autumn this year to win the Golden Slipper.

Shinn was delighted with the form and class displayed by the son of Exceed And Excel to winner the Breeders’ Plate and was quick to lay all the praise on the training efforts of Peter & Paul Snowden.

“It feels really good,” Shinn said.

“Full credit goes to Peter & Paul Snowden, and their whole team. They put a whole lot of work into these babies.

“And to James Harron for selecting another outstanding two-year-old. All of these owners who have had faith in him, it’s a big result today.

“To go back-to-back in these colours is very special.”

Khan stamped himself as a colt to follow upon appearing at Randwick on September 19th for a comfortable win in an 850m barrier trial.

Peter & Paul Snowden may elect to set Khan on a similar path to Capitalist, including an appearance in the Gold Coast Magic Millions 2.y.o Guineas (1200m) in early January.
