Junoob receives top weight for Tattersall’s Cup

The Chris Waller trained stayer Junoob has received the top weight of 59.5kg for the Group 3 $200,000 Carlton Mid Tattersall’s Cup (2200m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Junoob is lining up for his fourth Winter Carnival run and is heading back to Eagle Farm after finishing third to Benzini in the Group 2 $300,000 Evergreen Turf Brisbane Cup (2400m) at Eagle Farm on June 11.

The eight year old English import kicked off his Brisbane campaign with an eye catching fourth to Real Love in the Group 3 $125,000 JRA Cup (2000m) at Doomben on May 14 followed by a sixth to Real Love again in the Group 3 $125,000 Channel Seven Premier’s Cup (2200m) at Doomben on May 28.

Waller has also nominated Index Linked for the Tattersall’s Cup and the eight year old French import has been given 57kg.

Index Linked has been well beaten at his two Brisbane Winter Carnival runs when eighth to Real Love in the Premier’s Cup followed by a fifth to Benzini in the Brisbane Cup.

Kiwi stayer Benzini will carry the second top weight of 58kg and will be trying to maintain his good Winter Carnival form following his third to Real Love in the Premier’s Cup and his last start win in the Brisbane Cup.

The John O‘Shea trained Malice is stepping up to a middle distance again for the first time since running fifth to Casino Dancer over 1800m in the Group 3 $150,000 mypunter.com Eclipse Stakes at Sandown at the end of the 2015 Melbourne Spring Carnival.

Malice has been given 56kg and is coming off a last start fourth to Hopfgarten in the Listed $100,000 RadioTAB The Wayne Wilson Plate (1600m) at Eagle Farm on June 11.

The remainder of the fourteen nominations for the Tattersall’s Cup have been weighted in the 54kg minimum, Brave Ali, Gesemi, Tucanchoo, Feltre, Tints, Adirondack, Diamantine, Holy Cow, Mr Lebrock and Swift Lady.
