It Is Written has developed a reputation as a Moonee Valley track specialist and he has recorded seven wins and six placings from his 19 race starts at the venue including back-to-back wins in the Listed Abell Stakes (1200m) and a close second behind Mourinho in the Group 2 Australia Stakes (1200m).

The Written Tycoon gelding was far from disgraced when he finished seventh behind Shamal Wind in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) at Caulfield on February 28 and Griffiths told Racing Ahead that with some luck in running the six-year-old can figure in the finish of the 2015 William Reid Stakes.

“I thought it was really good,” Griffiths said of It Is Written’s effort in the Oakleigh Plate.

“He has flown under the radar and he has been a workmanlike horse that continues to improve each season.

“The one thing about him is that his form around the Valley is probably two to three lengths better than any other track that he races at and seeing him run really respectable in the Oakleigh Plate gives us confidence going back to his favourite track and distance.

“If he gets equal opportunity and the break comes his way then it would be no surprise to see him put himself in the picture because he is a seven time winner at the track and he is in really good form.”

It Is Written has drifted from $26 out to $31, while his stablemate Angelic Light remains on top of betting for the Group 1 event at a quote of $5.

The best-backed runner in 2015 William Reid Stakes betting markets has been Rebel Dane and the Group 1 winner has been backed from $6 into $5 to return to winning form in the William Reid Stakes this weekend.

There has been a sprinkling of support for Godolphin filly Earthquake ($8.50 into $7) in the William Reid Stakes betting market, while BTC Cup winner Famous Seamus ($10 out to $13), veteran galloper Bel Sprinter ($31 out to $41), David Brideoake-trained Griante ($17 out to $26), talented mare Girl Guide ($26 out to $34) and promising colt Galaxy Pegasus ($19 out to $26) have all been on the drift.
