A heavy track rating for Rosehill on Saturday won’t deter the confidence of Tommy Berry on favourite Star Turn in the Group 2 $175,000 MTA Run To The Rose (1200m).

The Rosehill track was downgraded to a heavy 9 on Thursday morning after receiving another 58mm of rain in the previous twenty-four hours, taking the total week’s rainfall to 66mm and with more showers forecast for the remainder of the week, the conditions are not going to improve significantly.

The Team Hawkes trained Star Turn took the honours over Golden Slipper winner Capitalist on a soft 7 track when he scored an impressive first up win in the Group 3 $150,000 Smithfield RSL Club San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on August 13.

Star Turn looked very comfortable on the rain affected track in the San Domenico Stakes and the top jockey has no concerns that he won’t be able to plough through the heavy conditions on the weekend.

“He’s shown no reason why he couldn’t,” Berry told AAP.

“He’s got a daisy-cutting action so I’d be pretty confident that he would.”

Star Turn has been to the races on six occasions with Berry in the saddle for both his wins, the other being a victory in the $150,000 Pierro Plate (1100m) at Randwick last October.

Top Melbourne jockey Dwayne Dunn held the reins three times and was on board when the Star Witness colt finished a game sixth to Capitalist in the Group 1 $3.5m Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill during the Sydney Autumn Carnival.

Star Turn has held his spot at the top of the market order for the Run To The Rose at $3.70 with Ladbrokes.com.au just ahead of the John O’Shea trained Impending at $4.50 and Team Snowden’s Mediterranean at $5.

Market order for The Run To The Rose at Ladbrokes.com.au: $3.70 Star Turn, $4.50 Impending, $5 Mediterranean, $5.50 El Divino, $7 Astern, $12 Telperion, $14 Good Standing, $51 Tessera, Manolo Blahniq, Nikitas, Cellarman, $126 Gadfly.
