Trainer Robert Heathcote is chasing victory in the Hollindale Stakes with veteran Our Lukas

Brisbane trainer Robert Heathcote will be chasing his fifth Group 2 victory in the Hollindale Stakes this Saturday with seven-year-old racing veteran Our Lukas.

Our Lukas finished a half head behind multiple Group winner Scenic Shot in the Listed Members Handicap at Eagle Farm on April 23.

Heathcote, who is yet to win a Group 1, is confident that Our Lukas has the ability to bring home his fifth Group 2 title.

“His last run was awesome against Scenic Shot and I think he really opened a few eyes that day,” Heathcote said.

“It’s a very hard field with My Kingdom Of Fife and Scenic Shot in it again but my bloke won’t be stopping.

“Realistically he’ll have to improve a few lengths as Scenic Shot is bound to be further improved as well.”

Despite the current high-class Hollindale Stakes field, Heathcote’s task will be made considerably easier should Chris Waller choose not to run last start Group 1 winner My Kingdom Of Fife in the race.

Waller said that while it is likely that the horse will run in the Hollindale Stakes, it is not yet confirmed.

“My Kingdom Of Fife doesn’t have to run in the Hollindale but he’s likely to,” Waller said.

“It’s a good race and has good prize money.”

Heathcote’s best chance to nab his first Group 1 victory is sure to be with Buffering, who won the Group 2 Victory Stakes last start by a considerable 1.3 lengths on a wet track.
