Co-trainer Lee Freedman will back up Disposition next week in the Group 1 $1m Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington and expects the four year old will have no trouble with the seven day turnaround.

“We won it twice with Warned and Pontormo backing up off this race and he is quite a gross horse, and I think it will probably suit him,” Freeman said.

Winning jockey Damien Oliver was happy to settle near the tail of the field after jumping from a wide barrier and was actually last at the top of the straight.

But Oliver was able secure a rails run on Disposition ($3 favourite) and snuck up the inside of San Diego ($13) to grab a neck win with $51 outsider Hosting running on out wide for third, two and three quarter lengths back.

Freedman was a bit concerned that Disposition had the entire field in front of him on the bend, but keep faith with Oliver who calmly developed a winning result.

“Last on the fence at the seven here isn’t the ideal spot but he knew what he was doing and fortunately the field opened up a bit and he got through,” Freedman said.

Freedman, who trains in partnership with his brother Anthony, took over the training of Disposition for his Spring Carnival campaign after he had spent some time with Mornington trainer Wez Hunter after he was transferred from Perth trainer Grant Williams.

Today’s win was Dispositions second for the Freedmans after he scored a first up win in the Listed $120,000 The Sofitel (1400m) at Flemington on September 12.

The Reset four year old’s other two runs for the Freedmans resulted in a second to Stratum Star in the Group 1 $400,000 Anthea Crawford Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 26 and he was in the runner’s up stall again when second to Lucky Hussler in the Group 1 $400,000 David Jones NBCF Toorak Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield on October 10.
