Gregers has recorded two very comfortable victories against her own sex this campaign, winning the Aquanas Foods Handicap (1000m) at Moonee Valley by four and a half lengths on August 3 before scoring a comfortable victory in the Mitchelton Wines Plate (1200m) at the same venue on Saturday.

Trainer David Hayes told RSN that he was happy with the performance of the Commands filly on Saturday and said he is looking forward to her facing a tougher test when she steps up to Group 2 level down the Flemington straight in the Danehill.

“She was really good,” Hayes said.

“She was racing at the front of the field, where she isn’t at her best, but she was still able to win by two lengths.

“She is better with a target in front of her, where she can quicken up and pick up.

“She is just coming into her coat and I would say by the Danehill that she will be pretty close to looking a treat.

“The Danehill will be a real test against the boys but she has had two runs and hasn’t been pressured so she will really be competitive I think.”

The Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 16 is the major 2013 Spring Racing Carnival goal for Gregers, with Hayes indicating that the testing Caulfield mile will be no problem for the three-year-old.

“Her pedigree suggests that she will as does the way she works at home,” Hayes said about Gregers chance of running a strong mile.

“She isn’t one of those rip and tear fillies that over races.”

Hayes is chasing his third victory in the Thousand Guineas having previously won the race with Miss Finland (2006) and Irish Lights (2009).
