Full field of 16 to go around in Doomben 10,000

Today’s Group 1 $750,000 James Boag’s Premium Doomben 10000 (1350m) at Doomben will have a capacity field of sixteen to run with the emergency Nite Rocker the only scratching in the weight for age feature sprint.

Melbourne mare Srikandi remains the $5.50 favourite just ahead of Generalife who continues to firm and is now marked at $6.50 at Ladbrokes.com.au.

On the third line of betting is the Paul Messara trained Scissor Kick who has had a little bit of support and has firmed into $7.50 from $8.50 while beaten BTC Cup favourite Our Boy Malachi has drifted slightly to $8.50.

The Peter Moody trained Bring Me The Maid has some supporters at $9 ahead of Kiwi sprinter Sacred Star who has remained steady at $11.

Kiwi filly Platinum Witness was promoted to favouritism for the Group 2 $175,000 URBIS The Roses (2020m) following the scratching of the Chris Waller trained Ballet Suite on Friday. Bjorn Baker’s filly Sebrina was also withdrawn yesterday leaving a field of thirteen fillies to compete in the final dress rehearsal for the Group 1 $500,000 Treasury Casino & Hotel Queensland Oaks (2200m) at Doomben next Saturday.

The Lisa Latta trained Platinum Witness heads the market order for The Roses at $2.50 just ahead of Gai Waterhouse’s Bohemian Lily at $3.50.

The remainder of the day is light on with scratchings with Shotover River out of the Group 3 $125,000 Channel 7 Premier’s Cup (2020m), Mr Favulous is out of the Listed $100,000 Landfill Logistics Ascot Handicap (1200m), Freezelightning won’t be running in the Group 3 $150,000 Mullins Lawyers Grand Prix Stakes (2020m) and Princess Charm has been scratched from the Group 2 $250,000 Mitavite Australia BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1350m).

The rail for the Doomben 10,000 Day meeting is out 3m for the entire course with the track rated a Soft 5 after the course received 16mm of rain during the week.
