Exosphere has been unbeaten as a three year old with wins in the Group 2 $175,000 MTA NSW The Run To The Rose (1200m) on August 29 and in the  Group 1 $1m De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) on September 12, both at Rosehill and followed that up with a win in the Group 2 $300,000 Canterbury BMW Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on October 3.

The Lonhro colt is certain to start the clear cut favourite for the Coolmore Stud Stakes with James McDonald to ride.

Exopshere is also nominated for the Group 1 $1m Darley Classic (1200m) at Flemington the following week but O’Shea is not certain if he is prepared to run his top quality three year old against the older horses at this stage of his career, especially after the way that Chautauqua won the Group 1 $1m William Hill Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley last Friday night.

“I think he (Chautauqua) is the best sprinter in the country by a furlong and he showed it on Friday night,” O’Shea told racing.com.

“I don’t think it (taking on Chautauqua) is something that we need to rush into doing to be honest.

“We’ve got a three-year-old colt who is a valuable stud prospect and getting a punch on the nose from the best sprinter in the country isn’t going to do anyone any good.

“I’ve got a responsibility to look after him and he’s probably only got four runs left in his career so I’ve got to be mindful of that.

“We’re not making any call on anything until we get through the Coolmore.”

O’Shea will also saddle up Mogador in the Coolmore Stud Sakes with Craig Williams to rode from barrier seven.

Mogador is on the improve and is stepping up in class after running second to Keen Array in the Listed $350,000 Catanach’s Jewellers Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on October 14.

The David Hayes and Tom Dabernig trained Keen Array will also be going around in the Coolmore Stud Stakes and has drawn barrier five with Damian Lane in the saddle again.

Lane has been aboard the Bel Esprit gelding at his last three starts, including his win in the Sapphire Stakes and the pair also combined for a victory at their previous start in a $100,000 three year old Plate at Moonee Valley on October 2.

Cox Plate winning trainer Chris Waller will also have two runners with last start winner Counterattack and the consistent Japonisme.

Counterattack was back in the winner’s stall when he came from back in the field to take out the Listed $150,000 City Tattersalls Club  Brian Crowley Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on October 17.

Blake Shinn takes over from Jason Collett and the Redoute’s Chouce colt will jump from gate eleven while Japonisme with Glyn Schofield has drawn better at three.

The Mick Price trained Ready For Victory has been freshened up since running third to Press Statement in the Group 1 $1m BECK Caulfield Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 10 and will jump from barrier four with Damien Oliver back in the saddle.

The Michael Freedman trained Singapore flyer Super One has had one run in Australia when second against the older horses in the $100,000 Apache Cat Classic (1000m) at Cranbourne on October 11 and will jump from gate ten with Hugh Bowman in charge.

Other acceptors in the Coolmore Stud Stakes are the Murray Baker trained Dal Cielo (Opie Bosson, barrier 12), Sebring Sun (Brenton Avdulla, 9), Black Vanquinsh (Patrick Moloney, 8), Hellbent (barrier 6) and Ragazzo Del Corsa (Ben Melham, 1).
