Jason McLachlan-trained filly Enquare overcame some mid-race obstacles to register her first black-type win and keep favourite punters happy in the Listed Breakfast Creek Hotel Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm today.

The two-year-old was caught wide early in the race but despite covering extra ground still had the class to fly home down the big Eagle Farm straight for a convincing win over Cannyzing and Nicked And Court.

Enquare was sent out a $3.40 favourite after running second to classy filly Missy Longstocking earlier this month and McLachlan is confident there will be plenty more stakes opportunities as a three-year-old.

“She just does everything right,” McLachlan said.

“She’s going to come back a better filly after a bit of a break.

“She’s just a good filly, she’s nice to do anything with. She just wants to be a racehorse.”

McLachlan chose to stick by regular jockey Justin Stanley who was elated to score top honours in his only ride of the day at Eagle Farm.

“I had a terrible run, I drew an awkward gate. I got caught three deep without cover,” Stanley said.

“It was a really tough win, she was entitled to get beaten but she has that touch of class…she was just too good for them.

“One ride, one win.”

The win takes Enquare’s record to two wins from six starts and her prize pool past the $100,000 mark.

Also well backed was Kelly Schweida’s colt Octane Flyer who had every opportunity in the straight but failed to kick on and eventually finished in fourth position.
