Dwayne Dunn admits that he is facing a tough task to catch Craig Williams in the race for the Melbourne jockey’s premiership title when they clash on the last metropolitan race day of the 2015 – 2016 season at Caulfield on Saturday.

Williams heads to Caulfield with 68 winners on the leader, three ahead of Dunn who missed a great opportunity to close the gap at Ladbrokes Park on Wednesday when Williams was forced to watch from the sidelines due to careless riding suspension.

“It would have been nice to go into the last day close and make a real battle of it but it’s pretty hard to make up four when you’re struggling to ride ones and twos,” Dunn said.

Dunn could only manage four placings from four rides at Ladbrokes Park and both boys have a full book of rides on the nine race program on Saturday.

Dunn said that he gave every runner a chance on Wednesday but unfortunately they weren’t good enough to fine the winner’s stall.

“I had a few darts to throw but didn’t hit the dart board,” Dunn said.

“You just need those horses to land for you but it wasn’t pilot error which was good.”

“It’s been a great year and I can reflect on that and be a proud dad with what Dylan (champion apprentice) has achieved.

“I’m not getting any younger but I’m still performing at a high level.”

Both jockeys have several strong chances to wrap up the season and below are their rides, head to head, with prices from Ladbrokes.com.au beside them.
