The field for Saturday’s Group 1 $750,000 James Boag’s Premium Doomben 10000 (1350m) at Doomben has been reduced to nine runners with the scratching of rank outsider Devine Centuri.

Racing Queensland Stewards released a statement confirming that Divine Centuri was withdrawn on Friday morning after the filly was found to be lame.

Divine Centuri had won her last two starts in three year old company, the Listed $100,000 IGA Sunshine Coast Mick Dittman Plate (1000m) at the Sunshine Coast on April 23 and a 1050m three year old Handicap at Doomben on May 14, and trainer Stuart Kendrick was keen to test her against the older horses at weight for age.

The I Am Invincible filly was rated a $34 chance for the Doomben 10,000 with Ladbrokes.com.au and her withdrawal has had little impact on the rest of the betting.

The Ciaron Maher trained Azkadellia remains at the top of the market order at $2.80 with Chris Waller’s Delectation and Canberra sprinter Fell Swoop now sharing the second line of betting at $5 ahead of Dothraki at $6 and Music Magnate at $7.

Even though Azkadellia has drawn the outside barrier and Maher has stated that the Group 1 $1.5m AAMI Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 11 is her main Winter Carnival mission, she was still installed the short priced favourite for the Doomben 10,000.

“The Stradbroke has always been her aim as she’ll be better suited over 1400 metres on a bigger track like Eagle Farm but the 10,000 is a nice race for her to kick off,” Maher said.

Waller is very keen on the chances of Delectation especially now that James McDonald is back in the saddle following is unlucky eighth to Malaguerra in the Group 1 $500,000 BTC Cup (1200m) at Doomben on May 14.

“I think he will be smoking his pipe, relaxed at the 600m mark. He is ready to win,” Waller said.

“He has ability and needs to switch off and settle.”

“Barrier two is definitely going to help him. There will be pace on, it’s a similar field to what it was two weeks ago.”

“The likes of Two Blue, she will roll along and there are a couple of others there that go forward.”

“Hopefully the 1200m race last start will just take the edge off of him slightly.”

Doomben 10000 market order at Ladbrokes.com.au: $2.80 Azkadellia, $5 Delectation, Fell Swoop, $6 Dothraki, $7 Music Magnate, $19 Charlie Boy, $21 Two Blue, Hooked, $26 Scarlet Billows.
