Marianne started her autumn campaign with a couple of flat performances in the Group 2 New South Wales Thoroughbred Breeders Classic (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on February 7 and the Group 3 Guy Walter Stakes (1400m) at Warwick Farm on February 28 before she returned to her best form when she chased home Noble Protector in the Group 3 Schweppervescence Trophy (1600m) at Flemington on March 14 and she was third behind the Cox Plate contender again in the Group 2 Sunline Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on March 27.

Team Snowden advised the owners of Marianne that they would be best served basing the Darci Brahma mare in Melbourne and she was transferred into the care of Team Corstens before she finished third behind Amorino and Under The Louvre in the Listed Anniversary Vase (1400m) at Caulfield on April 18.

Corstens told Racing Ahead that he was delighted to acquire a mare with the talent of Marianne and he is confident that she can return to winning form in the 2015 Queen Of The South Stakes in Adelaide this weekend.

“She is a gutsy mare and I am very lucky to have her because of Peter and Paul Snowden,” Corstens said.

“They recommended to the owners that they leave her in Melbourne and I was the lucky recipient of her.

“She has been very good since we have had her and she will head over on Saturday.

“She is fit, she is well and it looks a really good race for her.

“I think that she is a really good chance.”

Marianne will face 12 rivals in the 2015 Queen Of The Stakes field and the acceptances for the Group 2 event include staying mare Let’s Make Adeal, who will be returning to the races for the first time since she finished ninth in the Group 3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2600m) at Flemington on Emirates Stakes Day.

Marianne is currently available at 2015 Queen Of The South Stakes odds of $3.70 with Ladbrokes and is a clear favourite from early market mover Atlantis Dream ($6), Robbie Griffiths-trained Girl In Flight ($6.50), former Kiwi mare Lady Cumquat ($9) and Perth galloper Bippo No Bungus ($9.50).
