Spectroscope made his Australian racing debut with an impressive win in the Schweppes Handicap at Rosehill Gardens this afternoon.

Jockey William Buick elected to settle Spectroscope at the tail of the field in the early stages of the race and the import was always travelling nicely.

Buick pulled Spectroscope to the outside of the straight in the concluding stages and he proved far too strong to his rivals in the last 150 metres.

Trainer John O’Shea believes that Spectroscope still has plenty of improvement left in him and will have his next race start in the Doncaster Prelude in a fortnight.

  • 1st: Spectroscope
  • 2nd: Extensible
  • 3rd: Bring Luck
