Promising filly You’re So Good will kick-off her 2013 Spring Racing Carnival campaign in the Group 3 Cockram Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on August 17.
You’re So Good had an impressive debut racing campaign at the start of this year that was highlighted by victory in the Listed Alexandra Stakes (1600m) and second place finishes in the Group 3 The Vanity (1400m) and Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m).
Trainer Nigel Blackiston said the Savabeel three-year-old had returned for her second racing campaign as a stronger and more relaxed horse and he clearly has high hopes for her Spring Racing Carnival tilt.
The Flemington-based trainer will decide on You’re So Good’s ultimate spring target after her early season runs in the Cockram Stakes and the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) at Flemington in September but a couple of Group 1 races are on the agenda.
“There are plenty of lovely mares races, obviously ending up in the Myer Classic,” Blackiston told TVN.
“We will put in a nomination for the Cox Plate as she loves the Valley.”
Although the Cox Plate seems like a lofty ambition for You’re So Good, the rising four-year-old is undefeated from two starts at Moonee Valley, recording wins in the Sistema Plastics Plate (1200m) on debut last December and the Alexandra Stakes in March.
It remains to be seen whether she can run out the 2040 metres of the Cox Plate after finishing eighth behind Norzita in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) – her only race start at longer than 1600 metres.
Blackiston has never had a runner in the Cox Plate despite setting duel Group 1 winner Littorio, who was retired due to injury in 2011, for the race on three separate occasions.
