Everybody in Australia knows just how good she is and now so does the rest of the world with Black Caviar rated the best race horse on the planet.

The International Federation of Horseracing Authorities has made it official that the super mare is unequalled throughout the world.

The IFHA assessed Blacks Caviars effort in winning the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap at Flemington on March 12 and considered it the best performance of any horse in any race meeting in the last six months.

She was rated 130 following her victory that day, one point above Blame when he beat the previously undefeated Zenyatta on US soil in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Classic.

It’s easily the highest ever rating achieved by a sprinter, a full five points higher than the 125 rating scored by Oasis Dream in 2005.

“This is a landmark day for Australian racing with Black Caviar heading the list of the top 50 active thoroughbred racehorses in the world,” Racing Victoria chief handicapper Greg Carpenter said.

“Winners at the Dubai World Cup meeting, US Breeders Cup meeting, Hong Kong International meeting and the Arc De Triomphe have all been rated inferior to Black Caviar.

“That helps put into context the enormity of her achievement in winning the Lexus Newmarket Handicap and indeed her amazing sprinting performances over the past six months.

“It is particularly pleasing that she has broken ground for sprinters in the World Thoroughbred Rankings and showcased the growing strength of Australian racing on the world stage.”

So You Think also remains at the pointy end of the rankings with the Dual Cox Plate winners victories in the Group 1 Yalumba and Mackinnon Stakes snatching him a rating of 126 and fifth in the overall standings.

Rocket Man is a sprinter many Australians would be less familiar with but he was bred on Aussie soil before claiming his 122 ranking after winning the Group 1 Golden Shaheen in the Dubai World Cup last weekend in Meydan.

Overall there are eight Australian bred horses which feature in the overall World Thoroughbred Rankings.
