Mick Price’s team of rising three-year-olds has already had a big week but the leading trainer is hopeful for more success when Caulfield Guineas hopeful Worth A Ransom competes in the Riverdale Inglis Bonus Plate (1400m) at Flemington on Saturday.

Worth A Ransom stamped himself as a Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) contender with an impressive five and a half-length victory at Echuca on debut and is considered one of the leading chances for the $80,000 two-year-olds race on Saturday.

Although Price expects big things from the son of Red Ransom in the future, he told Racing Ahead on RSN that he is skeptical about the colts winning chances on Saturday after he drew an outside barrier.

“I think he has improved but he will need to have as he will jump from barrier fourteen out of sixteen,” Price said.

“He is a really nice colt, he has a spring stakes future in front of him and he will run well I just don’t know if he can overcome that barrier in what is a pretty nice race.”

Worth A Ransom will not be Price’s only runner in the race with Listed Taj Rossi Series Final (1600m) placegetter Resistant also set to take part.

Price doesn’t think that the Choisir colt has as much potential as Worth A Ransom but is confident that Resistant will run a good race.

“I think he will run his normal good, strong race,” the leading Victorian trainer said.

“You can sort of judge him on what he has done thus far, he has only put it one non-genuine race in his career.”

The Riverdale Inglis Bonus Plate is set to be one of the most exciting races at Flemington this weekend with undefeated Under The Louvre aiming for his third straight victory.
