Peter Moody is happy with Bring Me The Maid heading into the 2015 BTC Cup, but the leading trainer admits that he feels the talented filly may be better suited in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 (1350m) and Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m).

Bring Me The Maid made her long awaited return to the races in the Group 2 Arrowfield Sprint (1200m) at Royal Randwick on April 11 and she stormed home late to finish a very tight second behind Delectation and earn herself a 2015 Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival campaign.

Moody said that he was very happy with the first-up performance of Bring Me The Maid, but he told Racing Ahead that he was hoping the Doomben track would be softer than it is predicted to be tomorrow to enhance the chances of the Sebring filly in the BTC Cup.

“She has done well,” Moody said.

“She pleased us with her first-up run there at Randwick and she has had a month to overcome it.

“She travelled up there a couple of weeks ago and settled in fine.

“It is no small task, but her form is probably every bit as good as most of the others at the top level.

“She might want it a big wetter than it is going to present tomorrow, but she is there for the BTC Cup, Doomben 10,000 and Stradbroke and we are hoping that one or two of them fall on a heavy track.”

Bring Me The Maid has shown a degree of tactical versatility since she made her racing career, but Moody expects jockey Chad Schofield to settle the three-year-old towards the tail of the field in the early stages of the BTC Cup.

Moody believes that Bring Me The Maid does not have a winning chance if she is forced to circle the field coming into the final straight, but he is hopeful that the classy filly will be able to track one of her rivals into the race.

“I see her back probably worse than midfield and hopefully she can get a suck behind something coming to the turn,” Moody said.

“If she has got to go wide and do all the work herself then it will be an impossible task, but if she can get the suck on the back of something to cart her forward mid race that will be her chance tomorrow on improving ground.

“She will be strong to the line and I’m looking forward to getting her over further next time.”

Bring Me The Maid is currently available at 2015 BTC Cup odds of $11 and she is on the fourth line of betting behind Our Boy Malachi ($2.60), Srikandi ($5) and Scissor Kick ($8.50).
